Prof. Xiangjun Zeng

Prof. Zeng, a male, born in January 1972, is a China Democratic League, Ph.D., and second-level professor. Serving as the winner of the National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the leader of the “National University Huang Danian-style Teacher Team”, a candidate for national talent projects such as the National Hundred Thousand Talents Project, a young and middle-aged expert with outstanding national contributions, a recipient of a special allowance from the State Council, and a “Furong Scholar” special appointment Professor, he is currently appointed as the vice president of Changsha University of Science and Technology and acts as a doctoral supervisor.
Main research directions:
(1) Fault arc suppression and protection control of power distribution system; (2) Power grid fault traveling wave protection and positioning.
Introduction of main scientific research achievements:
Prof. Zeng has been engaged in research and investigation of ground fault treatment technology in power distribution systems for a long time. In view of the traditional problems of electric shock, fire and power failure caused by ground faults in power distribution systems at home and abroad, he proposed the neutral point flexible grounding method, the ground fault voltage arc suppression principle technology, no-setting protection technology, power grid fault voltage traveling wave detection and positioning technology. He presided over the casting of domestic power-specific chips and operating systems and other “big country heavy equipment”, developed a complete set of equipment for rapid and safe disposal of ground faults in power distribution systems, and put it into an industrialized application. He chaired a National Key R&D Program, a National Outstanding Youth Fund Project, two National Natural Science Foundation Key Projects, four Youth Projects and four General Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China; his technical results passed the scientific and technological achievement appraisal of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering in December 2020, for which the appraisal committee evaluated that his project pioneered the neutral point flexible grounding method and ground fault voltage arcing technology in the distribution network, which is on the international leading level as a whole.
He has published more than 300 scientific papers, more than 200 of which have been indexed by SCI and EI, and two of which have been selected as “Top 100 Highly Cited Papers in Electric Power Industry”, with a single paper cited nearly 500 times. He has won more than 20 scientific and technological awards, including one first prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, one second prize in the National Technology Invention Award, nine first prizes in Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards, one first prize of China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award, and one China Patent Excellence Award; he supervised his students’ science and technology work “Wide Area Power Grid Fault Traveling Wave Positioning System” to win the Special Prize of the National Student “Challenge Cup” Extracurricular Science and Technology Work Competition, and his students’ innovation project “Power Internet Fault Self-Healing Control System” to win the Gold Prize of the First China Internet+ Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition; he won the First Prize and Second Prize of Hunan Provincial Teaching Achievement.
